Boduberu Sallaa at Veshige 7 May: Don’t Miss This One
If you’ve been waiting for a reason to finally make the trip to Villingili, this is it. On the evening of 7 May, Veshige Nature House is hosting a Boduberu night that goes well beyond a performance: it’s a proper conversation about where this music came from and where it’s heading.
The idea is simple and quietly urgent: to sit with the rhythms of island life, the waves, the wind, the patterns of daily routine, and think about how they shaped Boduberu into what it originally was. Not the stage-ready version you see at resort shows, but the real thing. There’ll be live drumming, discussion about what’s being lost as the form modernises, and a local dinner to round out the evening.
Three hours, starting at 8 PM. Tickets are currently half price at MVR 725. Veshige is already one of the most thoughtful cultural spaces in the country, and this event fits it perfectly.
Go.
